On Humility (from my journal)
Humility is the essence of prayer. Visions, voices and ecstasies are nothing, if they fail to carry with them the humility that is our only hope and safety.
When we dream that we are special, we are damned.
Pride is the high.
Despair is the low.
What honors are these that we wear on our sleeves?
To be humble is to have no position
No station
No opinion of ourselves
In prayer the high and the low
Become meaningless
We are nowhere.
We are both God and dust
Worms and wind.
